About

Hi! My name is Max Ropri.

I come from Bogota, Colombia but I am also a Canadian citizen. How did that happen?
14 years ago my family had a dream. I lived in my hometown for 17 years but as it was previously arranged, I had to leave it all to do my post secondary education in the city of Vancouver… and stayed.

I feel this part of my story defined who I was as a human. That simple flight ticket, that piece of paper, has lead me to the biggest journey of my life, and it gave me something I didn’t know was missing: My passion.

I carry the same grief as everyone who has left their hometown. I know the feeling of being too Colombian to be Canadian and being very Canadian to be Colombian, but if anything has helped me find connection and meaning behind those struggles, it is storytelling.

From writing, to drawing, to filming. All of that has given me more identity than anything else. Art is a discipline for the ones that listen, see and notice. It is for the curious, the sensitive, the brave, and I have been nothing but mesmerized (and intimidated) by it.

My dream is to connect with people through the things that define them, their drive. I want to help them embrace it and celebrate it, and what better way to do it than with the thing that drives me.
